Sir Thomas Jones Woodward OBE is a Welsh singer. He was born at 57 Kingsland Terrace in Treforest on June 7, 1940. His parent was Freda Jones and Thomas Woodward.
The singer had a high school girlfriend Melinda Rose Trenchard, with whom he married on March 2, 1957.
His Parents Had Three-Day Fling
Jon’s mother, former model Katherine Berkery met legendary singer Tom Jones in a nightclub in 1987. They had a three-day fling (allegedly), and after three months, she found out she was pregnant. She was just 24.
However, Jon’s father, Tom Jones denied him being a father of the child. It led to a lengthy legal battle, and in 1989, the court ordered Sir Tom to have a DNA test.
After confirmation, the judge ordered him to pay £1,700 a month for the first 18 years of his life. Tom agreed to the decision on the condition that he wanted nothing to do with his son. He also paid £50,000 out of the court settlement to Katherine.
How is Tom-Jonathan’s Father-Son Relationship?
Tom remained a deadbeat dad to Jonathan for over two decades. Even after the DNA test came positive, the Welsh singer made it clear never to call him a father.
In 2008, the singer admitted to being his lovechild’s biological father. However, he also made it clear that he does not want to have a father-son relationship with his illegitimate child.
Talking with the Daily Mail in 2008, the Welsh singer said that Katherine tricked him into unplanned fatherhood.
“I just fell for it. I just fell for the seduction.”
Jonathan also once revealed that he tried reaching out to his father and half-brother, but never got any response. The two are believed to have never met in person.

Jonathan has undoubtedly inherited Tom’s musical genes. H is a musician, not as successful as his father, but a struggler. In 2018, he was seen singing his father’s songs in New Jersey streets with a cardboard sign, ‘I Need Money.’
Jon has been homeless multiple times, seen living in park benches and shelters. He was reportedly living in a shelter in Hoboken while working part-time for £5.50 an hour.
Talking with Daily Mail in 2013, Jon revealed that he became a gun-carrying drug dealer after being abandoned by Sir Tom.
“It all stems back to my dad. I don’t think I realised it for a long time but I was one angry kid, crying out for a father.”
